My daughter Lucy and I have been a part of Teenage Cancer Trust since 2011 when we took part in the local 'Pink Ribbon Run' event. In 2012 the event changed to the prestigious 'Royston in Blue', where we were both invited to volunteer at the event to marshall and sell 'memory balloons' and since then we have been budding volunteers. In October 2013, we were invited to cover the Teenage Cancer Trust stand at Christmas Craft Fair - Newmarket Racecourse - by Judith Anderson, Regional fundraiser East Anglia. Lucy and I loved being part of the Teenage Cancer Trust family and it is always an honour to represent such as amazing charity whose work helps so many young people with cancer.
Volunteering for Teenage Cancer Trust has been rewarding because you are constantly reminded of how your time given is helping young people with cancer experience the specialist care and support they need.
It has also got us involved in a community of long term friends who we look forward to seeing at other events, our volunteering gives us an incentive to get up and make a difference which really is all we could ask for in return for our time.
